Birchgrove Legal wishes to correct the public record regarding our client to the following effect:

1. Mr. Agazi was never held on any charges in a Turkish jail. He was detained in a detention centre.
2. Although he was in their custody for one year, Turkish authorities never sought to charge him with any allegation linking him to foreign fighting.
3. The Australian government did not seek to have him extradited to face any charges. Rather, Turkish authorities simply deported him home (to Australia).

The court process in relation to charges against Mr. Agazi is at a very early stage. We ask the community to keep an open mind until evidence is produced to support any charges, and to let due process take its course.
